Bob Zimmerman Joins Geneca to Lead Innovation Practice

Oakbrook Terrace, IL., 2/7/2007  --  Geneca announced today that Bob Zimmerman has joined its executive team as Client Partner for its newly formalized innovation practice group. In this capacity, Zimmerman will be a proactive advocate of how and where the application of IT can create future business value.
Zimmerman’s distinguished career in custom software development spans more than two decades and has been largely dedicated to leveraging technology to transform business, drive innovation and spur growth.

“This is an extremely important position for Geneca,” states Geneca CEO, Mark Hattas. “We are finding that while more and more companies recognize the impact software innovations can have on their ability to grow, they still need support in understanding how to assess and justify the business case for these projects.

“Bob’s background and experience make him a great asset to our clients as they evaluate ideas and think about how they use technology to re-invent themselves.”

Zimmerman comes to Geneca from Thoughtworks, where he was Vice President in charge of the Central Region. Prior to Thoughtworks, Zimmerman was CTO at Geneer, a leading custom software firm. Here, Zimmerman led the firm to become one of the first companies to successfully deliver large-scale software applications for the Application Service Provider platform.

“Most senior executives express support for new ideas and innovation. But, in many cases, they view innovation as high-risk effort with uncertain returns. As a result, investment in IT for the purposes of competitive advantage is still too limited,” states Zimmerman. “My goal right now for Geneca is to help our clients assess the risks and rewards of possible projects and open up the door further for innovation.”
